Presentation

In accordance with its mission, the Slovak Technical Museum systematically develops activities aimed at the museum presentation of the collection it manages in various forms, as well as knowledge gained in the implementation of scientific and research activities. The dominant form of conveying the legacy of the preserved museum collections is presentation through expositions and exhibitions.

Currently, the STM operates 30 museum expositions specializing in the history and development of science and technology, production, industry
and transport and 1 specialized interactive exposition, the Scientific and Technical Center for Children and Youth. The STM develops its presentation activities in its headquarters, three specialized museums and 4 extended exhibitions:

  • STM (headquarters), Hlavná 88 Košice
  • STM-Aviation Museum Košice
  • STM-Transport Museum Bratislava
  • STM-Solivar Museum in Prešov
  • Schuster Family Cinematography Museum in Medzevo
  • Hámor in Medzev
  • Mansion in Budimír
  • J. M. Petzval Museum Spišská Belá

In addition to exhibition activities, shorter and more thematically focused exhibition events are also carried out. The presentation of managed collections is also ensured by the mobility of collections, in the form of loans and leases of collection items for the purpose of their exhibition.

The outlook for activities focused on the presentation of parts of the cultural heritage managed by the STM is processed in the Presentation Activity Plans and updated in the annual plans of main tasks.
