Science and Technology Centre for Children and Youth
In an attractive environment, you will learn about physical, mechanical, optical and electrical phenomena in an interactive, playful and entertaining way. In this part of the museum, touching the exhibits is a must. You will find optical illusions, 3D and 2D illusions, puzzles, acoustic and electrical devices, perception measurements... Here, we popularize science, technology and natural sciences in a playful, engaging and lively way.
The mission of the Science and Technology Center for Children and Youth is to create a comprehensive information and educational museum space. It serves to work with youth and support the presentation of science and technology, based on interactivity and experimentation, using modern presentation forms and methods. The basis is interactivity, educativity, entertainment and attractiveness. Science, technology and natural sciences are popularized here in a playful, engaging and lively way. The composition and selection of exhibits were inspired by the model of "science centers".
More than 100 interactive exhibits are used for demonstrations. The Slovak Technical Museum thus offers visitors a modern educational center. The project of such a museum interactive classroom offers an unconventional form of education, supplementing knowledge of the classic educational curriculum for primary and secondary schools.
The exhibition halls represent natural sciences - physics, mechanics, interesting optical illusions and illusions in 3D and 2D, puzzles, magnetism, sensory perceptions. Numerous exhibits and demonstration devices are also aimed at presenting phenomena from the field of electrical engineering.
Visitors, especially schoolchildren, verify theoretical laws on the exhibits, e.g. Pythagoras' theorem, Newton's cradle, Bernoulli's floating ball, Thermal imaging camera, Moiré effect, Intersection of figures, 3D lines of force, Hydrodynamic phenomenon, Negatoscope, Stroboscope, Gyroscope and many other effects.
They can also test their dexterity and logical thinking with puzzles and optical illusions, such as the Tanagram puzzle, the Tower of Hanoi, the Hedgehog in a cage and others. The Science and Technology Center presents the discoveries and inventions of scientists (Tesla, Newton, Bernoulli, Röntgen, Pythagoras) who have significantly enriched the world.
