Main building in Košice
In the permanent exhibitions of the headquarters building of the Slovak Technical Museum in Košice, we present technical collection items from the fields of mining, metallurgy, blacksmithing, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, astronomy, geodesy, cartography, physics, dental technology to visitors. You will encounter unique pieces of industrial design and office machines. The Energy Department of A. Stodola will draw you into the world of turbines and engines.

History of metallurgy
The motto and central motif of the entire exhibition is the discovery of metallurgy, which is one of the most important stages in the development of human society. In the exhibition, you will learn about the history of metallurgy and its main stages of development from prehistoric times to the 20th century. The highlights here are discoveries in ironmaking, the production of non-ferrous metals, foundry and metal forming. The exhibition focuses on significant milestones in the development of metallurgy, i.e. the beginnings of copper, non-ferrous metals and iron metallurgy. You will be interested in traditional bell casting, but especially the hammer mill production, strongly associated with the regions of Slovakia.

Metallurgy in the 19th and 20th century
When entering the exhibition, you can touch the rare bronze door from 1580. You will be amazed by the historical development of metallurgy in the 19th and 20th centuries in the context of the industrial revolution, technical innovations in ironmaking, important figures in the history of Slovak metallurgy and monuments of ironmaking and technology in the field. You will get acquainted with the operation of the blast furnace through its unique model and with an electronic model of the production program of the metallurgical plant.

Decorative objects made of metal
The exhibition offers a rich collection of monuments of craftsmanship and art of metalworking masters. Cast iron stoves, sewing machines, irons, scales and weights, chests, mills, bells... The activities of an artistic locksmith, blacksmith and bell-caster are documented. You will also be interested in the unique forged clockwork from the tower of the Cathedral of St. Elizabeth in Košice.

Art blacksmith craft
Forged objects of both practical and artistic nature are exhibited here. You will appreciate rare forged Gothic doors from the 14th century, doors with Renaissance ornaments and original locks, forged stylized scenes from the turn of the 16th and 17th centuries, and a set of twenty Art Nouveau forged ornaments.

Electro age – 200 years of electrical engineering
The collection of electrical engineering occupies an extremely important place in the structure of the collection of the Slovak Technical Museum. The exhibition Electro age– 200 years of electrical engineering displays more than 360 exhibits on an area of 140 m² and is divided into 13 thematic units. Each unit presents the most interesting exhibits acquired over 75 years.

Truthfully about false teeth. From craftsman to dentist and dental technician
Through stylized dioramas you will enter the office of the first Slovak dentist František Kuska and the workplace of a dental technician. The exhibition presents devices, tools, aids, equipment, dental materials, historical literature and curiosities. Using an interactive tablet and a documentary film, visitors will learn many interesting things. The youngest visitors can try out proper dental care, while older and more skilled ones can play the role of a dental technician.
