hámor v medzeve.JPG (823 KB)Managed by the Slovak Technical Museum, the Medzev hammer mill serves as a "living technical monument" of sorts, allowing visitors to discover the historical technology of tool forging using a water-powered hammer. It represents a single-hammer, double-hearth type of hammer mill dating back to the second half of the 19th century. Within the unique atmosphere of the mill, visitors can appreciate the ingenuity and craftsmanship of Medzev blacksmiths. The interior features a specialized exhibition showcasing the mill's machinery, tools, and products related to small-scale ironware manufacturing. The hammer mill and its technical equipment are designated as a national cultural monument, listed in the Central Register of Cultural Monuments (ÚZPF) under number 4380.
