Petzval Days 2026 will bring a week filled with light, optics, photography, and science.
The J. M. Petzval Museum in Spišská Belá, in cooperation with the town of Spišská Belá, invites you to Petzval Days 2026, taking place from October 5 to 10, 2026. Throughout the week, visitors can look forward to a diverse program dedicated to the legacy of Jozef Maximilián Petzval, as well as to photography, optics, science, and creativity.
The program is designed for kindergartens and primary schools, seniors, students from the School of Applied Arts in Kežmarok, and the general public. Children can look forward to interactive storytelling, optics workshops, quizzes, and discovering the secrets of photography. The program will also feature a showcase of work by students from the School of Applied Arts in Kežmarok, a partner institution of the museum.
The week will culminate in "Petzval Day" for the general public on Saturday, October 10, featuring a photo booth, creative activities for children, an optics station, a camera obscura, a darkroom, and other attractions. Come and join us in exploring the light that Petzval transformed into science, art, and photography.
Petzval Days will also include the opening of a photography exhibition and an awards ceremony for the winners of the outdoor photography event; this will take place on October 5, 2026, at 4:30 PM at the J. M. Petzval Museum. The exhibition will run until November 30, 2026.
